Thanksgiving Weight Management Tips

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble. What is coming up very, very soon? Thanksgiving. Right? So before I get started on this week’s video, if you’re vegan, you don’t have to listen to this because it’s probably not going to apply. If you’re vegetarian, you still want to listen to it. And I’m making this video for our clients, but also for all of you that are not part of Maynestreet Weight Loss yet. Thanksgiving Weight Management Tips

I’m Debbie Harris, I’m the co-owner of Maynestreet Weight Loss on the Connecticut shoreline and our clients have been doing an amazing job over the last year of releasing weight, getting off medication, getting tremendous reports from their doctors, inches coming off, sizes going down. What has started to happen, no matter what phase they’re in, reach, their goal, didn’t reach their goal yet, in maintenance? They’re starting to freak out about Turkey Day, Thanksgiving. 

So, I want to give you a few tips and a few suggestions for Thanksgiving. First and foremost, do not set yourself up, I’m not going to eat anything. I’m not going to drink anything. I’m not going to eat anything unless it’s a green bean. I’m not going to have it, bad idea. We don’t want that and we don’t even want to go in thinking that. Then I had a few clients who said, well maybe I’ll just make all my own stuff. That’s okay, but you may not want to go through all that effort and bring that somewhere else that you’re going. So here’s what I suggest, enjoy Thanksgiving, whether you’re with friends, family, small gathering, large gathering, restaurant, It doesn’t matter.

I want you to take a few hours, let’s say 3 hours where you’re really going to just enjoy yourself. Now, I’m not telling you to be gluttonous because you won’t feel well, I can assure you of that, but go ahead and enjoy the meal. Take a small amount of everything. Try it, see how great it is and then here’s the most important part; and then push yourself away from the table. Do not take leftovers. If you are hosting, give them away, make sure that everybody takes something. If you have some turkey left, okay, we’ll deal with the turkey but everything else goes. If you’re in a restaurant, don’t take it. 

As I said, if you’re at someone’s house, no, thank you, I really don’t want it this year. I’m eating clean most of the time. That’s all you have to do. But remember, no guilt, no deprivation.
