During the Balancing Phase One of our Maynestreet Weight Loss program, we eliminate or dramatically reduce foods that can cause inflammation and sensitivities. We want you to have foods with high nutrition that will work to help balance insulin and cortisol and are less likely to be allergens.

Cortisol, the stress hormone, plays a significant role in weight management. Produced by the adrenal glands, cortisol levels naturally fluctuate throughout the day but can spike during prolonged stress. High cortisol levels can lead to cravings for high-calorie foods, increase fat storage in the abdominal area, and even affect metabolism. Moreover, chronic stress and elevated cortisol can disrupt other hormonal balances, including insulin, leading to further weight gain. Managing stress through relaxation techniques, adequate sleep, and regular physical activity can help keep cortisol levels in check, supporting overall hormonal balance and weight loss efforts.

Balancing insulin is also crucial for weight management because it regulates blood sugar levels and fat storage. When we eat, our bodies break down carbohydrates into glucose, which raises blood sugar levels. Insulin, secreted by the pancreas, helps cells absorb glucose for energy. However, suppose insulin levels are consistently high, often due to a diet high in sugars and refined carbs. In that case, our cells become less responsive to it, a condition known as insulin resistance. When our cells become less responsive to insulin, it can lead to higher blood sugar levels and increased fat storage, especially around the abdomen. Maintaining balanced insulin levels through a healthy diet and regular exercise can enhance our body’s ability to use glucose efficiently and prevent excessive fat accumulation.

We add specific snacks, eggs, and dairy to your diet in the Balancing Phase. We want to give you additional soluble protein. You may notice that your weight is falling off, you are sleeping better, joint pain is improved, you are not craving sweets, and other physical challenges are reduced or eliminated. After this Balancing Phase, you will go into Phase Two and continue to reach your ideal healthy weight while systematically reintroducing food categories, i.e., healthy fats, starchy vegetables, whole grains, and eventually bread, alcohol, and minimal sweets should you choose to do so. The key is to understand how YOUR body reacts to various foods. You will learn to maintain your ideal weight easily and effortlessly as you replace habits that no longer serve you regarding your relationship with food.
